A unique historical document, and a fun game similar to the classic board game, Monopoly, “The Game of Macomb” was an early 1980s promotional project of the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce and Michael Glenn Productions featuring local businesses from that time.

Among the properties listed on the game board are a few particularly interesting businesses that no longer exist or have changed...

  • Jack Stites Pharmacy at A2, which moved to Hy-Vee Food Store (E1).
  • Haeger Potteries at B2, which was previously the famous Buckeye Pottery.
  • Baymiller’s Shoe Store at B4.
  • Union National Bank at D1.
  • Sturhahn Jewlers at G1.
  • Ski’s Pizza at G3.
  • Macomb Daily Journal at J1, now the McDonough County Voice.
We have played a few marathon games on this game board, and it is actually quite fun!
