About Our Business

Located in the Historic District in beautiful downtown Macomb, Illinois, Parnassus Antiques & Curios brings objects of historical interest to our region. Although we display many items of local historical interest from our personal collection, we are not a museum. Most of the objects are available for purchase. Living with antiques is a wonderful way to enjoy them. We strive to provide the best in affordable antiques and curios for you to experience at home and in the office.

We specialize in 19th and 20th century decorative arts: American furniture; lighting; glassware; ceramics; clocks; paper ephemera, including maps, atlases, and books; musical items, including vintage instruments and music; and a myriad of interesting objects of material culture of the past. Feel free to peruse the many beautiful examples of jewelry; linens; quilts; picture frames; mirrors; and visual art, including paintings, prints, and sculptures.

Our building is a portion of the Union Block, built in 1896. In 2013, the building, along with the entire Historic Square District, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places after consideration by the National Park Service.

Once the law offices of the prominent local law firm, Harris and Harris, the building had been in the Harris family for four generations from 1934 until 2013, when it was purchased by the present owners, John and Kazue Graham, to become the home of Parnassus Antiques & Curios.

The proprietors, John and Kazue, cordially invite you to visit and shop during usual business hours, or by appointment or chance. We will often be found at the shop before or after usual open hours; however, there may be an occasional day where you find us closed out of necessity for various reasons. Please feel free to contact us by email or phone, especially if you are coming from a long distance.

We are Parnassus Antiques & Curios — Where the muses dwell…and the deals are swell!

About the name

The name of our antique shop is derived from Mount Parnassus, the home of the nine muses of ancient Greek mythology, symbolizing literature, science, and art. These nine muses were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, supplying inspiration about their various fields of arts to humans.
